Through the introduction of a new Capacitive Touch Sensor Control IC family, ROHM helps the Industry to adopt this cost efficient water-proof and dust-proof User Interface to more applications. Besides traditional applications like in white goods, kitchen and home appliances, set manufacturers starts to adopt Capacitive Touch Sensors to Flat Panel TVs, set top boxes, mobile phones, portable media player, portable navigation devices, remote controls and many other battery powered devices!
Rohm helps customers to reduce the power consumption of their design significantly, around 3 times lower than former industry’s lowest power consumption can be achieved.*(*Rohm internal study)
The 8-channel, 16-channel and the 48 * 80 matrix type sensor ICs stand for highest performance levels of stability and noise suppression. The implementation does neither require external resistors nor capacitors for a mechanical design adjustment, nor other external parts due to its internal clock and power-on reset!
Gesture recognition information as well as various settings and output register values are communicated via the I2C bus interface (all three types) or through a 3 or 4 wire SPI bus (BU21008MUV and BU21009MUV).
In order to provide a tactile feedback, up to half of the channels of BU21010MUV and BU21008MUV can be configured as LED drivers!
