ROHM ( http://www.rohm.com ) has developed the BU16008V, a high performance three-input switch IC for digital TVs and multimedia monitors compatible with the newest HDMI standard, ver. 1.3a. Features include a built-in DDC buffer for ID signal display, an equalizer, a multiplexer, and a high-speed differential driver for highly reliable digital transmission during digital audio/video signal switching between digital source equipment and a digital TV or multimedia monitor. In addition, original RF circuit technology and optimized pattern layout have been utilized to integrate an equalizer capable of compensating for signal decay and degradation due to cables and connectors via high-precision impedance matching. As a result, high-quality transmission waveforms are possible - even during high-speed (2.25Gbps HDMI ver. 1.3a) audio/video communication through 20m long cable. The BU16008V also integrates a bidirectional buffer – unprecedented in an HDMI switch IC – to protect against HDCP signal verification errors due to insufficient drive capacity in the DDC line. Set reliability is also improved due to an industry-best ESD resistance of 10kV (HBM).
